Baked Yogurt Dessert (this dessert is eaten during the holiday of Ramadan and Eid).
INGREDIENTS:
- Equal amount of heavy cream, condensed milk and yogurt
DIRECTIONS:
- Hand mix all ingredients
- Pour into ramekins and place all in a water bath
- Bake at 400 degrees fahrenheit for 12 minutes
Tip: Keep ramekins in a perforated pan and once cooked, remove the top pan and set aside
to cool. Once cooled, refrigerate.
Apple Gooseberry Compote
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 apples (chopped)
- 12-14 gooseberries (halved)
- 3/4 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- Juice and zest of 1 lemon
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- Fresh mint leaves to garnish
DIRECTIONS:
- Bring water, sugar and turmeric to a boil
- Add half of the chopped apples
- Let cook for two minutes
- Add cornstarch and lemon juice
- Add remainder of the apples and the gooseberries
- Cook for a couple more minutes
Remove from the heat and allow to cool
