In 2018, then freshman Jackie Lithgow tried to break up a fight at a fraternity pledge party and suffered a severe brain injury. During the altercation, his head struck the pavement and fractured his skull. The injuries resulted in six brain surgeries and a life-threatening infection. His rehabilitation included learning to breathe, walk, and talk again. Against all the odds, Jackie just completed his college degree and was able to walk across the graduation stage.
