Homemade Candy Apples
Makes: 6
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/3 cup light corn syrup
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 teaspoon red food color
- 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 – 5 wooden skewers – cut in half (about 5-inches long, each)
- 6 small to medium granny smith apples – washed, dried, chilled, pat dry
Instructions:
- Add the sugar, water, corn syrup, cinnamon sticks, red food color and salt to a pot and stir until sugar is dissolved
- Bring mixture to 280 Degrees (Soft Crack)
- Remove Cinnamon
- Add the baking soda
- Dip and stir an apple until evenly coated
