If you’ve watched entertainment television in the last two decades, there’s a good chance you’ve seen just what Angela Willoughby can do. An industry veteran with stints at BET, CNN, and “The View”—to name a few—Angela has lent her trademark wit and singular style to some of entertainment’s biggest flagships.
Like in everything else, Angela dove headfirst into her television career; her first job at UPN 9 News saw her venture into the field to cover local stories ranging from politics to education. After stretches at WABC and “BET Nightly News,” Angela brought her burgeoning production skill set to CNN, where she participated in nearly every aspect of the production process. Here, she left her mark on everything from graphics to packages in the field—even operating the teleprompter. The next period in her career saw Angela supporting a who’s who of heavyweights in the daytime talk show arena, lending her now-considerable experience to a series of programs starring Gayle King, Bill Cunningham, Anderson Cooper, and Trisha Goddard.
Angela found her next home at Arise News, an NYC-based global television news network with broadcast hubs in London, New York, Johannesburg, and Lagos—and this time, she was finally in the driver’s seat. As the Executive Producer of the network’s flagship entertainment program “Arise Entertainment 360,” Angela realized her vision of a show that covered pop culture and high culture alike with wit, class, and a style all its own. In this role, she helmed wide-ranging and incisive interviews with luminaries like Khaled Hosseini, The RZA, Stan Lee, Jesse Jackson, Gladys Knight, Boy George, Bill T. Jones, Herbie Hancock, Suzan Lori-Parks, Tracy Morgan, and Jordan Peele—and the list goes on.
A few years at the rudder ultimately gave Angela the courage and confidence to ascend one of the highest pinnacles in entertainment television as a show Line Producer at “The View.” In March 2020 Angela Willoughby joined the “Tamron Hall” show as a Supervising Producer.
Over the course of her career, Angela has earned a Peabody Award and an Alfred I. duPont–Columbia University Award, among numerous other honors. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and three children ages, 19, 13 & 5.
